Artist Statement

Raheleh Barkhordari, born in Tehran, Iran, and currently residing in Austria, has been passionate about endless daydreams and art since childhood. She first attended high school in the arts, then studied painting under the guidance of professors at university, ultimately earning a Master’s degree in painting. In her quest to discover her personal path, she has experimented with various techniques and materials over the years and is constantly challenging them. Her lifelong concern has been the search for truth and the meaning of life, and she addresses the conflict between light and darkness and humanity's entrapment in decay. In particular, being a woman in her environment has always come with profound and complex challenges. As a result, the figure of the woman, portrayed as a vessel for enduring the endless suffering of humanity, has a prominent presence in her works. The woman stands as a neutral observer and representative of creation, witnessing the corruptions that engulf the world. She is like a symbol of ancient goddesses, standing amidst decay, yet she does not bear the darkness and corruption. With the inner light of love, she tears through the veils of darkness.
